Aruba Hi-Winds Kite Surfing Windsurfing Tournament May 8 – 13 2024. Aruba’s favorable weather makes it ideal for windsurfing. For over 30 years, the largest amateur windsurfing has been held on the island. Along the way, kiteboarding was added to the competition events. This event draws adventure travelers to the island to partake in the windsurfing competition. The Fisherman’s Huts has been the venue for the Aruba Hi-Winds and Boca Grandi for the kiteboard freestyle competition in recent decades. In 1991 and 1992, some professional champions even circumnavigated the entire island on their boards, with Björn Dunkerbeck setting a new record time each year.
Over time, the Aruba Hi-Winds has expanded to include other watersports such as kitesurfing, kite foiling, and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP).
